Overview/Process:
My interactive workshop will be tailored to the needs and interests of the people experiencing anxiety, stress, hardship, and emotion management. How can we be best at our jobs without taking care of ourselves? In the beginning, there will be a short formal introduction of myself followed by an ice break for me to learn with the audience. Afterward, I will introduce myself fully and highlight my mental health counseling education so far. I will start by talking about the importance of mindfulness and what it can do for you. The first mindfulness practice the audience will do is the “raisin exercise”. It will teach the audience how to be within the present moment. We will discuss how it can apply to moments in time when things are tense. Then we will lead the audience through a short meditation. It is simply listening and following the meditation. People experience relaxation and hopefully reduce the heavy load of life placed on us. Next I will teach about some practical emotional regulation concepts to help people that are experiencing difficulty with sadness, anger, loneliness, and troubles in their perspective areas. The audience will write their own emotional expression poem. This is built to foster better self awareness needed to make changes. If there is time left over I will have an entertaining and interactive role play for the audience to act out scenarios in which they might experience some bad emotions and with an educational lesson tied to it. Lastly, there can be a signed book given away in each class for the most interactive member. 1
At that moment, I want to emphasize the importance of what it takes to follow their own path. There will be time left for questions from the audience.
This session uses an interactive workshop format combining brief didactic teaching, mindfulness practice, creative expression, and group discussion. Participants will engage in hands-on activities including the “raisin exercise,” guided meditation, and emotional poetry writing. These experiential methods reinforce mindfulness and emotion regulation concepts in real time. A mini-lecture introduces practical strategies, followed by individual reflection and optional role-play or group discussion to apply tools to real-world scenarios. Activities are trauma-informed, inclusive, and adaptable.
