Title: The Teen Regulation MethodTM

Biography

Lucia Lloyd-Clokie is a UK-based nervous system regulation practitioner and founder of unWINd Clinic. With over 25 years’ experience in clinical bodywork, myofascial release, Pilates, and integrative somatic therapies, her work focuses on restoring regulation in individuals experiencing chronic pain, anxiety, asthma, and stress-related conditions. She has presented research on the impact of somatic therapy on asthma and anxiety at international conferences and now specialises in supporting overwhelmed adolescents and their families. Her approach bridges neurophysiology, the brain–gut connection, and relational co-regulation, offering body-based frameworks that complement psychological and therapeutic care.

Abstract

This presentation introduces the Teen Regulation Method, a nervous-system-led framework designed to support emotionally overwhelmed adolescents and their families around them. Drawing on autonomic nervous system theory, adolescent neurodevelopment, and the brain–gut connection, the talk reframes common presentations such as anxiety, emotional volatility, withdrawal, and somatic symptoms as physiological stress responses rather than behavioural problems. The session explores why regulation must precede reasoning, the role of parents as co-regulators, and how body-based, sensory, and relational tools can restore stability and felt safety within the household. Clinical observations and early outcomes are shared, alongside implications for mental health, education, and family-based interventions.
