Title: The Role of Sophrology in Stress Management: A Mind-Body Approach to Restoring Balance and Resilience

Biography

Dominique Antiglio is a Swiss-born Master Sophrologist, author, and Founder of BeSophro, the UK’s leading Sophrology platform and app. Trained by Dr. Alfonso Caycedo, the founder of Sophrology, Dominique has over 20 years of experience supporting individuals and organisations in stress management, resilience, and emotional wellbeing. Her book, The Life-Changing Power of Sophrology, introduced this science-informed method to the English-speaking world and has been translated into multiple languages. She regularly delivers workshops and keynote sessions for global organisations including the World Economic Forum, ASICS, Bloomberg, and Google. Her work bridges science, mindfulness, and somatic awareness to promote calm, clarity, and lasting balance in fast-paced environments.

Abstract

Chronic stress is one of the most pervasive challenges in modern society, affecting both mental and physical wellbeing. While traditional psychological and pharmacological interventions remain essential, there is growing recognition of the need for integrative mind-body approaches that address the physiological and emotional dimensions of stress simultaneously.

This presentation explores the clinical and experiential benefits of Sophrology, a structured mind-body method developed by neuropsychiatrist Dr. Alfonso Caycedo in the 1960s. Combining elements of breathwork, gentle movement, body awareness, and guided visualisation, Sophrology helps individuals regulate their nervous system, reduce cortisol levels, and build long-term resilience.

Drawing on over two decades of practice and case studies from both corporate and therapeutic settings, Dominique Antiglio, a Master Sophrologist and Founder of BeSophro, will present science-informed insights on how Sophrology supports stress recovery and prevention. Through regular practice, participants experience improved self-regulation, emotional balance, and cognitive clarity; key components in mitigating chronic stress and preventing burnout.

The session will discuss how integrating Sophrology into stress management frameworks can complement psychotherapy and mindfulness-based approaches. A brief experiential demonstration will also be included, illustrating the accessibility and effectiveness of this method for diverse populations.

By bridging neuroscience, psychology, and somatic awareness, Sophrology offers a scalable, science-aligned tool for promoting mental health and resilience in high-pressure environments.
